The ‘XG’ high-gain rubber coupling series is ideal for AOI/SPI productivity improvement!

What are AOI and SPI?

AOI is an acronym for ‘Automated Optical Inspection’.
This refers to the automated external inspection which takes place during manufacturing of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and liquid crystal displays, in which the inspected object is scanned with a camera and any faults, such as missing parts or distortions in shape, are automatically detected.

SPI is an acronym for ‘Solder Paste Inspection’, referring to solder printing inspection equipment. This equipment inspects the conditions after solder printing.

In both cases, improved inspection speed as well as inspection accuracy are challenges concerning productivity improvement.

How does the XG Series aid AOI/SPI productivity improvement?

As indicated above, AOI and SPI face issues of increased inspection speed, for which servomotor performance is essential. However, an equally important element is the coupling which connects the servomotor and the actuator.

In recent years, servomotor performance has dramatically evolved, with higher and higher speed response frequencies appearing in the market. However, the disk couplings conventionally used in AOI and SPI generate hunting (resonance phenomenon) in high speed response frequency regions, compromising the servomotor's performance.

NBK's "XG Series" high-gain rubber couplings have extremely high damping performance, absorbing vibration and preventing hunting in high speed response frequency regions. Therefore, the servomotor gain can be raised, enabling faster AOI and SPI inspections and improving productivity.
